I’m Hannah
I’m a professional, friendly and highly organised financial journalist who thrives on deadlines. I started my career in the trade press where I spent several years covering investment and wealth management for Investment Week and Fund Strategy, working my way up from reporter to acting editor.
Since becoming freelance I still cover fund management and write technical stories for a professional audience, but I have broadened my beat to include personal finance for consumers. I often write about investing basics, and I cover a wide range of other money topics including pensions, insurance, mortgages, financial advice and fintech. I have covered national business, economy and markets stories as a freelance producer for BBC Radio 5 Live Business. Â
In the last few years I have gained experience in UX writing and content design, taking a long-term contract as a content designer for Atomos Wealth. Currently I am working a maternity cover contract as Lead Finance Writer for Snoop app, part of Vanquis Bank.
I have gained industry recognition for my work: most recently I was named Freelance Journalist of the Year at the 2024 Headlinemoney Awards and in 2023 I won the BIBA Consumer and Business Award.
I hold Unit 1 of the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and am currently studying for Unit 2. You’ll find me visiting London to meet clients, but my home base is in Greater Manchester with my children and pets.

Journalism
I write original news and features for newspapers and magazines including The Times, The Telegraph, The Sun, The Intermediary and World Finance Magazine. I’m also a podcast host and radio producer.
Content
I create engaging, shareable content for financial brands including pension guides for Aegon, investment deep dives for HSBC Global Private Banking, and impact investing explainers for Bank of the West.
I’m also a copywriter: I worked on UBS Wealth Management‘s website, and I’ve ghostwritten articles and produced fund brochures, ad copy and social media content for many other brands.
Editing
I can make your copy flow more smoothly, get your message across more clearly and in fewer words, or polish your tone of voice. I also have an eagle eye for an errant apostrophe.
My recent editing work includes rewriting investment commentary and editing stock reports for an investment manager, and revamping an employee handbook for an industry regulator.
